60s Bollywood

1960s Bollywood is the most fabulous, energetic, musically wonderful and let's face it, well dressed.   Golden dresses and shoes, beehives, mysterious black masks, suited men and all the head shaking you could ever imagine or hope to see in a life time.  The music is a great example of how to combine traditional music with 60s hawaiian style lounge.  You can even hear the raw mariachi trumpets in the background.  Actually some of the songs from this film were heavily borrowed from Henry Mancini's music from the film 'Charade' with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.  It makes for a rather grand, up-beat sound.  The male singer in his immaculate white suit...The Indian John Waters?  (Well he does have a pencil thin moustache) is actually the famous Mohammed Rafi a Bollywood legend.

This clip from the 1965 film 'Gumnaam'.  In English the word means unknown or anonymous hence for those wonderful masks in the clip below.  You might also remember this clip from 'Ghost World' and since has a bit of a cult following.  Enjoy!

Dapper Dan Style

Can't remember if I have posted this yet, but here is some true Milanese Dapper Dan style.  This dude was pimping his look as he strut past the Duomo...Ahhh yes the days of men dressed elegantly ain't over yet.  Maybe he wasn't as suave as Cary Grant or so manly like Randolph Scott but at least he had his turn of the century chimney sweep cap on.  He can even clean the chimney at my house for turn of the century wages too....''but Pizza Head Girl, you don't have a chimney''...Dang!

Dapper Dan nicely smoothed hair...Perfection Cary and why Randolph, not a stray on your head either.
